4.0 out of 5 stars I had my doubts but...

...this fix helped. Belt keepers! My doubts came from the issues I read pertaining to the rigidity of the material causing large, sloppy loops toward the connection point where the straps double over. Tested in the field, I did in fact, find this to be a problem. The thickness of the material made it difficult to quickly attach the anchors to the anchor links. It’s unfortunate that a $50 product had to be modified to work correctly, but it made all the difference [see photos].I’m still concerned about the aluminum adjuster rings scratching or dinging my gear when it’s stowed away in a bag, but I think they can be removed. Maybe covered with the same belt keepers or another material. Haven’t tried yet.Aside from these issues, this shoulder strap is high quality and I would recommend it - if you don’t mind having to modify. I’ve brought these concerns to Peak Designs attention. They say they are taking them into consideration on future products.

I have been using this strap for several months to make sure I could provide the most accurate feedback possible.

First off, I got the Lite, so it's thinner and less bulky than its counterpart. I ordered not knowing there was a difference. This one is very slim and low profile but can get a little uncomfortable over a long time or with a heavier camera. Thankfully, my cameras are not very heavy so that has been less a concern.

The best part about Peak Design gear, is that everything is designed to work with everything else. I have the wrist strap too and the quick disconnect tabs works flawlessly between the wrist strap and the camera strap and work among my various cameras as well. Very pleased with that aspect alone.

Furthermore, the quality is something I would expect from a top tier brand and I am very pleased with the products from Peak Design in general. Whether you just have one camera, or several, Peak Design is a modular system that you can invest in and be happy about knowing you have quality gear for the occasion.

The only negative feedback I could think of is, while using the strap in cross-body carry, the strap get in the way of the fold out screen on my Sony a7IV. My Nikon doesn't have a flip out screen so this was not an issue with that camera.

The solution was easy enough, the strap is easy to adjust and I just have to give myself a little more strap to compensate. Funny enough, that feature is built-in to the strap by design, so it is definitely not a deal breaker, just something to be aware of when setting up your gear.

Product is high quality and well made 5 Stars BUT not wide enough if I slap on heavier lenses.

I used this on a Canon 80D and the Canon strap that came with the camera was more comfy.

I ordered Peak Design Slide SL-BK-3 which is wider way more comfortable.

The thinner camera strap is great for most applications and takes up a smaller space in a camera bag. I'm glad a fellow photographer to me about this product.

There seems to be an untapped market for camera straps. All the ones I've seen are some combination of bulky, ugly, and skimpy. Decided to try the Peak Design Slide Lite to see what the hype was about.

Things I like:
- The strap seems to be very well made, and good quality nylon weave. Almost like the seat belt on cars.

- The buckles look pretty solid too. Although I'm not sure what the metal flippy part is for. I originally thought it was to "lock" the buckles to prevent it from sliding. But that doesn't seem to be the case, since I was able to slide and adjust the buckles while in the "locked" position. Maybe it's a beer bottle opener?

Things I don't like:
- The base plate for the tripod mount seems pretty flimsy. I don't plan on using it, because I can shoulder sling the camera when the straps are attached to the sides of the camera.

- Wire attachments. I'm not sure I can trust these thin wires to hold my camera for extended periods of time. The fact that PD implemented "wear indicators" really tells you that these things are expected to snap at some point.

- Plastic quick release. It's incredibly difficult to find camera straps without quick release. I only have one camera, so it's not really a desired feature to change camera straps often. The quick release on other straps are the bulky ones you see on backpacks. Those things tend to pop out if you pull hard enough. PD's system is clever but those little discs will wear out too. That's why they sell extras. I could use the strap that came with my camera but it's covered in Sony's logo and pretty gaudy looking. It's also made poorly. Very thin material that itches my neck.

Overall, the Slide Lite is a much nicer strap compared to everything else out there. But I feel like it's overpriced for what it is.

I'm generally pleased with my experience so far. The adjustment buckles slide well and I'm not worried at all about safety failure. There are some things to note from other reviews:

- Yes the strap will bunch up in your face if you attach it to both sides and bring the camera to your face. However, if attached on the left and bottom with the provided mount and worn on the left shoulder, you'll never experience this as it'll drape all under your camera.

- Talking about attaching it to the bottom, someone had an issue where the screw came undone and the camera fell after a hike. I haven't experienced a loosening of the mount after tightening firmly, not overly so but just about firm. I've used the strap while working as a production assistant doing other tasks having the camera flop around behind me.

I don't have any real complaints about the product, however, I would recommend getting the clip if you're going to be running around. I might be in the minority of buyers that have used it for that, but nevertheless I noted that.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ruined by bulky anchor points that are heavy handed on the cameras body

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 16, 2018

This company is nothing shy of perfection, from the amazing origami like packaging of the products, to the satisfying click of the anchor points, everything about the item makes it feel like a high value product.

You can clearly feel that Peak Design have spent a lot of time thinking about the usability of their items too.

Ironically, this slide lite is let down by the rather clumsy and heavy anchor point clips which you install on the camera.

It's been less than 24 hours of use and they have already left horrible marks on what was a prestine G80 camera body, not happy at all about this!

After reading the raving reviews I just don't get it.

The anchor points are quite heavy and made from what appear to be a robust plastic, so they naturally fall down when stored and rub against the camera body.

I would warn others to remove the strap before packing into a bag as the plastic is too robust and likely stronger than the cameras body which is causing marks and scratches.

This would have been a perfect neck strap otherwise. I just can't believe how this one thing has been overlooked for a company that seems to care so much about every single detail.

They need to add a silicone layer to the exterior of the anchor clips or something else to soften it without loosing the integrity of them.

Even possibly adding length to the anchor clips as this would allow the anchor points to drop beneath the camera for storage.

Sorry Peak Design, I read a lot about your company buy your strap just ruined my perfect camera body which I paid close to £800 for

I did so well keeping this camera in perfect condition, who knew a neck strap would destroy it's reign?!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Strap! But worth the price? maybe not..

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 20, 2020

I have no doubt camera straps often do not get the consideration the deserve. I will not be a working billboard for a company I have just offloaded a door stopping wedge of cash on never mind how great their product my be. This means 3rd party straps are a must. As our smartphones become better and better cameras out "real" cameras need to be as easy to carry and convenient as we can make them to ensure their place at out side as often as possible. And in this regard peak designs does very well.

I'm not going to go into details about the design or quality of construction, They ate great and you'll find a 1000 reviews in every corner of the internet. But I will say this. Every time I clip it onto my mirrorless Lumix I make sure to enjoy the satisfying click. I they think back to that great packaging with its magnetic hinged lid and all the other expensive touches that where part of those first impressions. The reason I do that is I know that a very large chunk of the hefty price tag when on that first unboxing.

For me, I would have been much happier with simple packaging a reduced price tag. I can but know I was sucked in buy all that sleek marketing and vastly over payed for a camera strap, a very, very nice strap but at the end of the day still just a simple camera strap with a very, very big price tag.

But hey....... That unboxing was great. Just a shame half the cost was in the recycling bin before the sun went down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very expensive [I think] but it does what everyone says it does and I would buy it again.

I bought this to use on photography workshops when using my Nikon Z6. Some people think that's a small, light camera. It's not small and light to me and I wanted a strap that would be comfortable to use while walking around London for 6 hours shooting street photography.

First things first, it was comfortable for all that time and it held the camera securely. I didn't feel it swaying about as I always have with the included straps [which I hate]. For that reason alone I'm now a convert to this Peak Design strap, despite the cost [you might think it's a fair price, I still think it's ridiculous for a strap].

Next, it has a variety of carrying styles. I used it round my neck, simply because of how I was going to be shooting. I might try it with the side sling configuration when I’m on a more leisurely shoot, but I saw one guy using the same strap that way on the workshop I attended and he seemed to have no problem with it. I think as a side sling it was marginally slower to raise the camera, but we're talking fractions of a second.

I can't talk about long term wear and tear, because I've only just got this. From all I've read they hold up ok.

One one side of the strap, around where you'd have it on your neck, there's a rubberised grip [not too pronounced] and that really does stop the camera/strap combo from slipping. That's always been a problem for me with included cameras straps when I've had them over my shoulder, rather than over my neck. The grip on this strap prevents that so that's a big plus in my eyes.

The little eyelet type attachments work very well and snap in and out easily. You can buy extras so if you have several cameras you can use a single strap and share it with all of them as you need to [assuming you only take one camera with you when out shooting]. I don't think the extra attachments are super, super cheap, but they're cheaper than a whole strap package so overall you could get some economy there.

Would I buy this strap again? Yes, I would, despite moaning about the price. I got the black version since I don't want to call attention to myself when on the streets, but they do have some nice looking versions. That's purely a matter of taste, of course.

Would I buy a second strap? Probably not, since I rarely take more than one camera with me when I'm out and about so I can just use this strap on any of them. I just need a few spare attachments. Actually, you can remove them from your camera pretty fast anyway, so moving the whole thing from one camera to another would probably take less than a minute.

They do have a broader strap for heavier cameras, but this one is rated for heavier than my Z6 so I don't know if I'd need anything bigger than the Slide Lite. If I ever do need a heavier duty strap, the Peak Design would probably be my first choice.

It was nice to fit the strap and forget about it. That's not really something I've ever been able to do with an included strap. They always seem to have something not quite right about them and I really don't like how they emblazon the brand all over them. I don't want to advertise the camera I'm carrying from a distance. There are enough pickpockets around without attracting their attention with a bright yellow Nikon logo!

5.0 out of 5 stars Trouble free and easy to use

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 12, 2021

This is the second one of these straps I have as I have two different types of camera. The previous one I have had for several years and it's still as good as new despite lots of use. The strap length is fully adjustable and quick and easy to alter. There are two sides to the strap, one smooth where it moves easily across your shoulder and one that has a rubber grip to hold it in place, you can chose which side to use depending on how much you move your camera up and down. You do not need to remove the strap to change sides, just turn it over and it will move to the other side as it's held in place with the two connectors at each end which allows for it to turn. I use both sides many times on a photography shoot. It holds a huge amount of weight and I would certainly recommend this over a cheaper strap purely for the ease of use and peace of mind in keeping your camera securely attached to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best camera strap there is

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 3, 2022

The Peak Design SLL-BK-3 Slide Lite is quite possibly, IMOHO, the best camera strap there is. It can be worn conventionally around the neck or extended so the camera can be worn across the body. Made from a tough car seat-belt material, the Peak Design SLL-BK-3 Slide Lite can be attached to the camera via several anchor points which use detachable round lugs, so it isn't necessarry to keep the strap attached to the camera all the time. Brilliant for when a tripod is being used and a conventional strap gets in the way. Also supplied is a metal attachement block for attaching the round lug to the tripod socket of the camera for when the cross-body style of carrying the camera is used and two extra round attachment lugs so if you have a spare camera, you can use the Peak Design SLL-BK-3 Slide Lite on that too.

The Peak Design SLL-BK-3 Slide Lite is very comfortable to wear; it doesn't cut into the neck and is very tactile, especially when used with any of the Olympus OM-D series of mirrorless cameras & lenses. For information, I also use this strap on my Nikon D7200 DSLR & a variety of lenses, the largest being a 55-70mm zoom lens and have suffered no issues at all. However, when I used it with my full-frame Nikon D810 c/w battery grip & a number of large lenses, I found that the strap did cut into my neck due to the weight of the camera & lens. Therefore I can recommend this strap for light to medium weight DSLR lens & camera combos and mirrorless cameras but not the "Big Boys" of the DSLR world.

All in all I'm very impressed with the quality, strength and versatility of the Peak Design SLL-BK-3 Slide Lite and although a bit expensive, so is camera equipement. Therefore I have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
