The Two New Telluride Trims

Both these variants come with the all-wheel-drive assembly that pairs with the naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V-6 powertrain. It generates up to 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. The Kia Telluride won the 2020 World Car Of The Year award for all solid reasons. This perfect package of an SUV, was high on desirability quotient, even in design. And this wholesome package has been carried over graciously. The 2023 Kia Telluride is still based on the first-generation model [that came out in 2020] but gets an extensive list of upgrades inside-out.

It flaunts a more-distinctive exterior design with new LED lighting and a beefier stance, thanks to two new off-road-spec trims. The interior is also heavily updated with a new dashboard and a floating curved slab of glass that houses the instrument cluster and infotainment screen. The powertrain remains unchanged but towing capacity has been bumped up to 5,500 pounds. While its corporate twin, the Hyundai Palisade has also been heavily updated for 2023, it is the Kia Telluride that pulls the right strings.

The 2023 Kia Telluride gets elevated visual appeal with exterior upgrades, two new off-road-ready trims, a new dashboard design, and a bucket-load of new technology features.

Off-Roading Capability Gets Dialed Up With Two New Trims

The 2023 Kia Telluride now comes in a wider platter of six trims. Apart from the 2022 MY list, two new trims have been added - X-Line and X-Pro, both of which are keen on getting their shoes dirty. The X-Line trim replaces the sinister Nightfall Edition and adds a lot more off-roading finesse. It gets a unique grille design, integrated roof rails, and exclusive 20-inch wheels. To make things more obvious, it gets an "X-Line" badging at the rear. It is not all aesthetic, as the Telluride X-Line gets 0.4 inches of added ground clearance, which improves approach and departure angles.

It also adds a new tow mode for improved trailing, an upgraded traction control system, and downhill brake control. But the X-Pro is even more hard-core when it comes to taking things down the beaten path. It adds all the features from the X-Line trim and some more. It gets exclusive 18-inch wheels that are wrapped with all-terrain Continental tires for more aggressive off-roading. The towing capacity also gets raised from 5,000 pounds to 5,500 pounds. Both these trims also get subtle interior tweaks, with "X-Line" and "X-Pro" embossing on the front seats. Other interior tweaks include exclusive color options [X-Line] and a 110V inverter outlet [X-Pro].

2023 Telluride Gets Cooler With New Radical Exterior Bits

Apart from the new trim-specific exterior tweaks, Kia has also given the 2023 Telluride a worthy mid-cycle face uplift. It gets distinctively designed vertical LED headlamps and updated sleeker LED taillamps. LED fog lamps also come in as an option. The front and rear bumpers have also been revised for a fresh and more aggressive outlook. The tiger-nose grille also gets a new blacked-out pattern.

The side sills and lower door garnishes also get refreshed. Kia has also added in new wheel design for every trim level. And to bring all of this together, the 2023 Kia Telluride gets three new color options - Midnight Lake Blue, Dawning Red, and Jungle Wood Green [our personal favorite]. Apart from these and the notable off-road-spec upgrade, the dimensions remain unchanged.

Refreshed Interior With A Fresh Dose Of Technology Features

The interior also gets some major cool upgrades. The most notable of which is the redesigned dashboard that now gets a single curved slab of glass housing, both the instrument cluster and the infotainment system. This setup reminds us strongly of the Cadillac Escalade's dashboard. This is a top-spec option that gets two 12.3-inch displays stacked side-by-side. While we don't have images of how the new dashboard slab will look in the lower trims, at most, the digital instrument cluster would be replaced with the good-old analog one.

The dashboard gets slimmer air-con vents and a redesigned steering wheel as well. On the tech front, it gets OTA capabilities and Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity. As for the starting layout, nothing much has changed, and the 2023 Telluride continues to come in either a seven-seater [with second-row captain seats] or eight-seater layouts. Kia has added new interior upholstery color packages. The highly practical layout is also retained.

2023 Kia Telluride Adds New Safety Bits Including Semi-Autonomous Tech

Safety has also got a notable bump in the 2023 Kia Telluride. The already impressive safety suite gets new features like traffic sign recognition and a left-turn warning function. It also gets a more advanced Highway Driving Assist 2 feature, which can now even handle automated lane changes.

Kia is also adding the usage of the digital key technology to the 2023 Telluride that lets you use your smartphone as a car key. The in-built navigation system also gets a dose of safety updates including speed limit sign recognition and "connected routing" - which will use real-time data and predict road conditions to provide optimal directions.

Performance Remains Unchanged With The 3.8-Liter V6

Via: Kiamedia.com

Kia has left the 2023 Telluride's powertrain untouched. It continues to be powered by the very capable 3.8-Liter naturally-aspirated V6 motor that churns out 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels in the standard guise, with AWD coming in as an option across the trim table. The EPA figures will mostly remain unchanged, with FWD returning 20/26 MPG [city/highway] and the AWD returning 19/24 [city/highway]. But the new off-road-ready trims will have a slight change in these numbers.

2023 Kia Telluride: Pricing And Launch Date

Via: Kiamedia.com

Pricing for the 2023 Telluride line-up has not been announced yet, but we expect a notable bump as compared to the 2022 Telluride. The base LX trim is expected to start with an MSRP of $36,000 and top out with the new X-Pro trim with an MSRP of $50,000. While the base pricing is marginal, the top-end pricing has a gap of about $5,000 which is a huge deal.
