How is a fat transfer to the face performed?

There are two methods of transferring fat:

In a conventional fat injection, fat is injected in a mass without special processing. This method tends to result in a high dissolution rate (around 80%), so a significant percentage of the fat cells will not survive the process. Conventional fat injections are best suited for treating significant volume loss.

In a Micro Fat Transplantation, the fat is derived using low pressure to avoid damage and is then processed and injected into the tissue slowly and gently, layer by layer. Dr Tiryaki uses different grades of fat tissue according to the depth of each layer. GUIDELINES FOR THE FAT TRANSFER SURGERY

The following guidelines apply for all types of surgery.

•You should stop using all kinds of blood thinners.

•You should stop smoking within two weeks following the operation. You should not do any activities that will increase blood pressure.

•You can take a shower the day after the operation.

•You can use ice for the first three days to calm any oedema (swelling and fluid gathering in the injected areas of the face).

•You can use daily creams (including Oedema reducing creams) and wear make-up from the day following the operation.

•You should avoid sports for the first two weeks following your operation.

As with all surgical procedures, patients must abstain from taking blood thinners and limit both alcohol consumption and smoking as much as possible. Ideally, a patient should abstain entirely from smoking and drinking alcohol in the last couple of days preceding surgery.

This procedure usually takes fewer than 30 minutes and is performed under local anaesthesia or sedation. Most patients describe the procedure as painless and are able to go home after a few hours.
