What is an Online Check Image?

An Online Check Image is a digital copy of a check you wrote that has posted to your checking or savings account.

How do I view an Online Check Image?

Sign on to Wells Fargo Business Online® and go to Account Activity. Click the check icon next to the check you would like to see.

Why do I need Online Check Images?

It’s quicker than requesting a paper copy of a check you've written. You can view an image of your check  through Wells Fargo Business Online immediately, while it can take up to 10 business days to receive a paper copy by mail.

Do all accounts offer Online Check Images?

Currently, online check images are available for business and personal checking accounts and some savings accounts with check writing features.

Can I view the front and back of a check?

Yes. And it’s easy to save or print images.

What if I can't see the information written on the check?

A check may show up blank if written in red, metallic, or other non-traditional ink. Checks should always be written with a black or blue pen.

Is there a charge for viewing Online Check Images?

There is no fee to view checks through Wells Fargo Business Online for Wells Fargo customers. However, when viewing on a mobile device, your mobile carrier’s message and data rates may apply.

When do images of my checks become available in Wells Fargo Business Online?

If the check number is displayed in Account Activity, then the check has already posted to the customer's account. And, if the check number is displayed in Account Activity, then the check image can be accessed after 7:00 am.

For example, if you have a check transaction that posts on your Account Activity screen on Tuesday, the check image will be available after 7:00 am "local" time that day (Tuesday).

Please note: Wells Fargo Business Online Check Images are not available from Saturday 10:00 pm Pacific Time to Sunday 2:00 am Pacific Time so that our images systems can be updated.

Will I continue to receive paper copies of my checks if I view them online?

Yes, if you receive your cancelled checks along with your monthly statement, you will continue to do so.

Will joint account holders also be able to view Wells Fargo Business Online Check Images?

Yes.

To determine whether a check has posted, sign on to your Wells Fargo Business Online account and look for the check number in your Account Activity.

Requesting and searching for check images

How do I search for a check?

If you already have Wells Fargo Business Online access, sign on. Click Request Copies Checks from the Account Activity page. Then:

  • Use Search to view more transactions.
  • You must enter either a check number (or range of check numbers) or the dollar amount of the check (or range of dollar amounts) to complete the search for your check.
  • View a check by selecting the check and hour glass icon.

If you're not enrolled for Wells Fargo Online® access, enroll now. Enter your Social Security number, ATM PIN, account number, and email address.

Can I see an online image of a check returned due to insufficient funds?

No, if your check is returned due to insufficient funds, the image of the check will not be available.

Printing and saving your check images

How do I save my check image?

Windows:

  1. Position your cursor over the copy you want to save.
  2. Click the right button on your mouse.
  3. Select Save Picture As.
  4. Choose a location on your hard drive to save your check image.
  5. Click Save.

Macintosh:

  1. Position your cursor over the copy you want to save.
  2. Click and hold down the mouse button.
  3. Select Download Image to Disk.
  4. Choose a location on your hard drive to save your check image.
  5. Click Save.

To view a saved check image:

Locate the saved image on your computer and double-click the file name to view. Select a Web browser from the list of available programs and click Continue.

How do I print my check image?

A printer friendly version of the check image will automatically print when you print the image from your browser. To print copy of the check:

  • Click File on your browser.
  • Select Print.
  • Select OK.

Can I still order a paper copy of a check through the mail?

You can order a copy of a check through Wells Fargo Business Online. Simply sign on to Wells Fargo Online and access Request Copies through the Account tab. Or you can request a paper copy from the Wells Fargo Phone BankSM or your branch. Fees may apply for paper copies.

Does it cost money to cancel a check?

The cost for placing a stop payment on a check is up to $35 and it'll remain in effect for 24 months. If you need to renew the stop payment after 24 months, an additional stop payment fee will be charged. Some consumer accounts will discount the stop payment fee.

Can you cancel a check after it has been deposited?

Once you've decided to cancel a check, it's important to act fast, as you will not be able to stop payment on a check after it has been deposited or cashed.

Can you still cash a check after the void date Wells Fargo?

Banks don't have to accept checks that are more than 6 months (180 days) old. That's according to the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), a set of laws governing commercial exchanges, including checks.

Can I cancel a cashier's check Wells Fargo?

If the cashier's check is lost, stolen, or destroyed, you may request a stop payment and reissuance. A stop payment and reissuance can only be completed within a branch location. As a condition of stop payment and reissuance, Wells Fargo Bank will impose a $31.00 stop payment fee and require an indemnity agreement.
