Once you have an error, search this document (Command+F or Ctrl+F in your browser) for the appropriate troubleshooting steps.

Main installation log errors

Exit code: 16 - Failed to load deployment file Temporary deployment file cannot be loaded. Run the install again.
Exit code: 19 - Payload cannot be installed due to dependent operation failure; Close conflicting processes See Install log error "Exit Code: 19" | Creative Suite 5, CS5.5.
Exit Code: 20 - install source path does not exist Install source files are missing. Reextract or copy the contents of the installer.
Exit Code: 21 - installed version of RIBS doesn't support version An installer component contains a newer version number than the install engine expects. Reextract or copy the contents of the installer.
Exit Code: 22 - INSTALLDIR check failed Unable to access the install location. Verify that you have full access to the install location or select another location.
Exit Code: 25 - Installer exceeding MAX_PATH limit Installation path exceeds file system limitation. Move the installer to another installation path with fewer characters or select a shorter location.
Exit Code: 26 - Media swap required to continue installation, cannot proceed Another disk is required to continue with the installation. See Error Code 26: "Media swap required to continue installation cannot proceed".
Exit Code: 27 - Keyed files found in target An uncustomized patch is being applied on a system that is running in a Sassafras-keyed environment. Contact your local system administrator for customized patch.
Exit Code: 28 - The base product is not installed The patch cannot be applied to a machine unless the product is installed. See Error "The base product is not installed" | Installing update | CS5.
Exit Code: 29 - The base product has been moved The base product has been moved. Launch the product, then try applying the patch again.

Exit Code: 30 – Installation done with errors due to low disk space

Exit Code: 31 – Installation failed due to low disk space

Insufficient disk space was available to complete the installation.  See Exit code 30 and exit code 31 "low disk space" errors.
Exit Code: 32 - The patch is already applied The patch is already installed. See Error "The base product is not installed" | Installing update | CS5.

Creative Suite installer is unable to re-create a directory. Verify permissions to the location and enough free space remains on the disk.
DF019 Unable to find the file to patch. Reinstall the product & then apply the patch again File to patch does not exist. Reinstalling the product might fix this problem.  
Disk Swap Needed, Prompting user to swap disk A disk with the same name has been mounted but is missing required installation files. Eject the DMG and mount the installer again.
DF027 Cannot copy file from to File copy operation failed.  Verify that the source file exists. Verify permissions to the location and that enough free space remains on the disk.
DS001 Failed to mount the disk image at . Verify that the disk image is not corrupted. Creative Suite installer is unable to find the software on the disk. Reinsert or mount the disc.
DF027 Caching the payload - Failed Creative Suite installer is unable to cache a component. Close all conflicting processes and try the installation again.
Disk Swap Needed, Prompting user to swap disk Some files are stored on an SMB share. Move files to an AFP share or place a DMG on the SMB share.

DW041 INSTALLDIR contains invalid characters The installation directory contains unusable characters. Choose a different install directory.
DW041 INSTALLDIR does not describe a full path The installation path is incomplete. Choose a different install directory.
DW062 Unable to locate folder for token Unable to resolve a directory token to its actual path. Close all conflicting processes and try the installation again.
DS005 Invalid INSTALLDIR The installer has difficulty obtaining installation path information. Choose a different install directory.
DF016 Cannot create directory at for asset extraction. Error: Unable to create directory. Verify permissions to the location and that enough free space remains on the disk. Ensure that you are logged in as an administrative user.
DW020 Conflicts were found in the selected payloads. Halting installation. Conflicts exist between the installation components. Uninstall prerelease builds and run the installation again. If that fails, run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and remove all products. See Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems for information.
DS003 Cannot create extract assets at from zip file The unzip operation has failed. There could be directory permission or disk space issues. See Error "FATAL ERROR: Cannot create extract assets..." | Installer log | CS5, CS5.5.
DF012 Installation source path does not exist: The installation files are corrupted. Reextract or copy the contents of the installer.
DF027 Cannot copy file from to File copy operation failed. Verify that the source file exists.  Verify permissions to the location and that enough free space remains on the disk.
DF012 Uninstalled Path not found The installation files are corrupted. Reextract or copy the contents of the installer.
DF027 Cannot copy template database file from to The installer was unable to set the FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL to the file at file path. Choose a different install directory.
DF055 Version was requested on two different files of different types Installer had incorrect parameters. Run the install again. If the error recurs, run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and remove all products. See Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems for information.
DS014 Invalid parameter values were provided The installer was passed invalid parameters. Run the install again. If the error recurs, run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and remove all products. See Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems for information.
DB001 Cannot open database file: Unable to open the install database file. Reextract or copy the contents of the installer.

DW041 Path exceeds the max limit A path in the INSTALLDIR has gone beyond MAX_PATH on Win and PATH_MAX on OSX. Run the install again. Select a different installation location with a shorter path.
DF008 Unable to read symlink target of source file The installation of payload failed. Run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and remove all products. See Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems for instructions.
DB001 Cannot open database file Unable to open the database file. Reextract or copy the contents of the installer.
DF008 Unable to read symlink target of source file Unable to extract the target info from the symlink file. Reextract or copy the contents of the installer.
DF014 Unable to create symlink at Symlink creation at destination path failed. Run the install again. Select a different installation location.
DW036 Payload cannot be installed due to dependent operation failure; A process was running preventing the installation of a component. See Install log error "Exit Code: 19" | Creative Suite 5, CS5.5.
DF015 Unable to delete created symlink at Deletion of symlink at path failed. Run the install again. If the error recurs, run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and remove the products. See Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems.
DF052 Unable to open file Unable to fetch a valid handle to a required file. Verify that the file exists and try the installation again.
DF034 SetFileTime failed with error: The handle to the file was opened successfully, however, the SetFileTime API failed. Attempt the installation again.
Unable to delete file copy at "" Delete file operation failed while rolling back the copy file command. Run the install again. If the error recurs, run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and remove all products. See Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems for information.

DB005 sqlite prepare An SQLite statement could not be prepared. Close all installations and try the installation again.
DW038 The current user doesn't have sufficient security credentials to install this software. The current user doesn't have sufficient security credentials to install this software. Log in with a user with administrative privileges and try the installation again.
DW041 Invalid INSTALLDIR - Install DIR selected is invalid Choose a different install directory.

Caching the payload - Failed The payload caching has failed. Close all applications and try the install again.
Unable to locate folder for token Unable to resolve a directory token to its appropriate actual path. Request retail software. Beta software was supplied.
Cannot create directory at for asset extraction. Error: Directory creation at path failed. Assets could not be extracted. 'error' is the error code returned by GetLastError() Verify that you have full access to the install location or select another location.
Command failed. The specified command failed. Restart the machine and try again.
DB009 CreateUninstallDataBase: Cannot insert into Property = Insert command failed on the uninstall database. Free some disk space and retry the installation.
DW063 Error committing command Command could not be committed. Verify that you have full access to the install location or select another location.
DB001 Cannot open database file to read property Installer database is corrupted. Uninstall all products and attempt the installation again.
DS005 INSTALLDIR property is required The condition table is not proper. Reextract or copy the contents of the installer.
DB008 Cannot fetch entries from Assets table The Assets table is not in a proper state. Reextract or copy the contents of the installer.
DW015 Attempt to set dependent operation result for payload that does not require it Creative Suite installer attempt to perform an invalid action. Run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and remove all products. See Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems for instructions.
DF027 Fail to copy file to A file copy operation from source to destination has failed. Free some disk space and retry the installation.

AMT: ERROR: Product is missing SIF and is not passively activated Application.sif is missing. Reinstall the product.
AMT: ERROR: ALM failed to initialize and read trusted storage, hence no license SLConfig.xml is missing/corrupted. Reinstall the product.
AMT: ERROR: configuration file The application.xml file for the product is missing. Or any of this folder is missing from the location where product is installed: AMT Legal folder. Reinstall the product.
PCDService: Master PCD doesn't exist. The master pcd.database file could not be found. Reinstall the product.
AMT: ERROR: App is not installed but requires installation The app wasn't installed (or an installation was unsuccessful). Shipping apps usually require installation. Reinstall the product.
AMT: ERROR: Cache PCD is not writable, hence exiting.

Installer couldn't read the cache PCD (cache.database), probably because a SQLLite journaling file prevented it. This failure could be because adobe_caps.dll/framework is missing from the location where product is installed. This error sometimes also means that the cache PCD does not have write permissions. In this case, the product doesn't launch.

1. Verify permissions to the Adobe shared folder.

  • Win 32 bit: \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
  • Win 64 bit: \Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
  • Mac OS X: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/

2. Delete any .journal files found in the Adobe PCD folder.

ERROR: Cache PCD failure; aborting!

WeInstaller couldn't read the cache PCD (cache.database), probably because a SQLLite journaling file prevented it. This failure could be because adobe_caps.dll/framework is missing from the location where product is installed.

This error can also mean that the cache PCD does not have write permissions. In this case the product doesn't launch.

1. Verify permissions to the Adobe shared folder.

  • Win 32 bit: \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe,
  • Win 64 bit: \Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
  • Mac OS X: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/

2. Delete any .journal files found in the Adobe PCD folder.

CheckForUpgrade serial number returned empty upgradeXML List of qualifying products in upgrade screen is empty, because the upgrade information is missing. You are using an upgrade serial number but your installer does not support upgrade. Use different installer/serial number.
PWA Could not be loaded. Provisioning functionality would not be available Serial number isn't validated. Any provisioning functionality isn't done. PWANative is corrupted Redownload and extract the installer.
No payloads returned from native side "Installer failed to initialize" displays during the installation because the installer is corrupted. Redownload and extract the installer.
The driver is not enabled so the install button is disabled Install button is disabled. Driver cannot be installed on machine. Check the system requirement for the product.
