The regular 2023 Ford Ranger ute range has arrived in Australia, ahead of the flagship Raptor due next month. Now in Ford dealerships across the country, the new Ford Ranger is the first new model in a decade, with more technology, a bold new look, and a range of four-cylinder and V6 engines. As reported, prices have increased by up to $2240 in the standard line-up – or $6100 for the Raptor – though most models, including the top-selling twin-turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel Wildtrak, are up by less than $1100. Ford Australia says it is holding more than 20,000 orders for the new Ranger and Everest – including at least 4000 for the Raptor – with wait times on some variants stretching up to nine months. Six model grades of the new Ford Ranger will be offered – XL, XLS, XLT, Sport, Wildtrak and Raptor – across single-cab, extra-cab (or 'Super Cab') and double-cab bodies, cab-chassis or pick-up styles, four engines, two transmissions, and rear- or four-wheel drive. Prices start from $35,930 plus on-road costs for the entry-level XL Single Cab Chassis 4x2, and rise to $85,490 for the twin-turbo petrol V6 Raptor flagship. Powering entry-level models is a 2.0-litre single-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine developing 125kW and 405Nm, with a six-speed automatic transmission (there's no manual), and rear- or selectable (part-time) four-wheel drive. Mid-grade models upgrade to a familiar twin-turbo version of the 2.0-litre diesel engine, with outputs of 154kW/500Nm (down 3kW over the old Ranger), a 10-speed automatic transmission, and standard part-time four-wheel drive. Ford Ranger XLT, Sport and Wildtrak models can be optioned with a 3.0-litre single-turbo diesel V6 for an extra $3000, developing 184kW and 600Nm, with a 10-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive. Sitting atop the range is the hero Ranger Raptor, powered by a new 292kW/583Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine driving all four wheels through full-time four-wheel drive and an 10-speed automatic (full details here). XL-specific features include 16-inch steel wheels, all-black front grille and vinyl flooring – with the one-rung-up XLS adding niceties like 16-inch alloys, black side steps, carpet floors, a six-speaker sound system, front parking sensors, and more.
