If you use multiple peripherals in your business and need to connect them to your computer, you'll quickly run out of free USB ports. Keyboards, printers, mice, wireless adapters and chargers all need at least one free USB port. Newer Dell monitors come with USB ports to help you connect more devices to your computer. However, these ports must be activated, or powered, before you can use them.

  1. Turn off the Dell monitor.

  2. Plug one end of the USB cable that came with your monitor into the USB upstream port on the bottom of the monitor.

  3. Plug the other end of the USB cable into a free USB port on your computer.

  4. Turn on the monitor and the USB connectors on the side and bottom of the Dell monitor are activated.

  5. Reboot your computer if the USB connections are not working.

There should be some in the front and back of your PC. What Dell model is it?

I don't know much about computers. It says DHM for model.

I just found one under the cords on the back of the pc. Thanks for listening to a grandma whose grandchildren just plunked a computer in her bedroom - no instructions!

IT doesn't have a name. It looks to be manufactured by thermaltake but doesn't look like anything they sell. What are you trying to upgrade?

Kept the hard drive and case, $20 cheaper, you now have a more powerful 750ti [higher factory overclock], a skylake based pentium and still have 8gb of ram. Everything is cheaper but still of decent quality ~

Recently I decided to build a gaming pc, but because it's the first time, I don't know what Power supply I should do. The system will run at 400 watts I guess. Will a 500/550 watt psu be enough? And what is better: Modular or non-modular?

Any help is appreciated!

0

550 will be plenty if your system won't use more than 400w. Modular is just more convenient when fitting and looks a little neater.

Thanks! Then I'll go for the modular

Hard to know, games are getting more VRAM hungry lately, if you want it to last that long get at least a 4GB video card. There is also no PSU listed, thats not a trivial component, you should list it too.

It's a pre-built gaming pc which comes with a Raidmax Vortex V5 casing and a 450W PSU. Must be a FSP Hexa+ 450.
It's a budget PC, so I think they have installed an average quality PSU.

Hey Guys. I have the HAF 932 case and I finished adding some upgrades and after installing Windows 7 I forgot to deactivate sleep mode. The system went into sleep mode and after I had brought it out of sleep mode the power LED didn't light up. The system runs fine, HD activity light works as it should and i have power, but the power LED isn't on. This had happened to me in the past and it would randomly work again. Just wondering what the heck is the issue. Windows 7 sleep mode causes this? Any of you experience this with a HAF 932 case power LED?

0

Honestly, I've never worked with any of the EVGA motherboards, surprisingly, so I can't say for certain how the led behavior reacts to a return from sleep on those boards, but the light on the case is just that, a light, and would either be on or off depending on whether power was sent to it or not. It wouldn't be a function of the case to determine whether the light should be on or off, so it has to be a property related to the board itself. I know for a fact that most if not all Gigabyte boards show a different LED code after resuming from sleep than they do after a boot or restart, and that some boards behave strangely after a resume, so if everything is working normally otherwise it may just be something you can ignore. I know a lot of ASUS boards were about the same as the Gigabyte boards, showing a different status code after resume but behaving normally otherwise.

If you don't notice ANY other issues, I don't think I'd be too concerned.

Thanks for the help. I concur with you. I checked the contacts and the look fine. Weird thing is that the power LED is back on, yet not as bright as the HD activity light. It's really weird, but not really phased by it anymore. Just got stupid windows 7 update to work again [piece of garbage] so i'm not looking to do a reinstall. May be a good time to do that red LED swap with the blue ones anyway. Thanks for the help.

The other thing you might consider is replacing the LED with a replacement unit from Cooler Master. It's always possible there is some issue in the wire or the bulb itself has some issue so you might be on the right track with the color change.

Around October of this year I plan on upgrading my system [I'm waiting for Zen to see which way to jump]. I plan or replacing everything on the inside, CPU/MoBO/Memory, GPU, HDD etc, the only question I have is my power supply. The power supply in question is a SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze, and it's a little over three years old. I know SeaSonic makes great PSUs, but is three years too old or can I get away with using it for another two to three years?

Thanks in advance!

Page 9

So I built my computer about a year ago, had a motherboard go bad and a stick of RAM go bad hence the 28gb RAM. So now my problem is that I get random restarts out of nowhere at no obvious intervals. But the last few days I've been playing Dark Souls 3 I've had quite a few so now I'm going to look into it as before it was every month or so [I don't get to play too often for too long]. My temps are fine as I tried to lower my OC's and it still happens. From the research I've done it has to be either the PSU not being able to output enough power OR its just going bad? I can't think of any way to test because it seems as if my systems restart button was hit and not a BSOD. I would like to do some tests to ensure it's the PSU before purchasing another PSU. Specs: Monitors: Acer 34" Ultrawide and AOC 24" Samsung EVO 250 WD SSHD 1tb Sandisk SSD 225gb Adata SSD 120gb W10 5820k @4.4 max temp 57C watercooled SLI 980 Ti's max Temp 54C watercooled Core clocks up to 1450 Asus Rampage Extreme 28gb Geil RAM PSU: 1050 watt EVGA [this was refurbed and I think this is the problem]

I'd start by disabling the overclock and give it a try, if the problem persist take out one GPU, if the crashes stop then swap the GPUs, if both GPUs work well then it's most likely a power issue.

I have the A80, just installed the other day. It is quite nice.

And for me, the LACK of LED's is a good thing.

Hard to say with or without, because I've not tried that config. But it does move air around the otherwise dead space near the CPU. I went from a CM Hyper 212 Plus to the A80. Under 100% CPU load [30 minutes of Prime95], 12 degree C drop.

I just hastily purchased a second MSI GTX 970 and am now concerned I might be running a little light in the power department! Here is my build: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 mobo 32gig of memory OC x2 MSI GTX 970 OC X2 SSDs X2 standard HDs i7 Devils Canyon 4.0 cpu OC to 4.4 x8 120mm fans x1 140mm fan x1 memory cooler x2 monitors [27in & 21in] x1 1080p HD webcam keyboard, mouse, headset Thank you for taking the time to look at this and provide me some aid. Much appreciated!

I calculated the wattage with overclocking and the system total was 600 watts. The G2 is a good power supply and the 850 will leave you with plenty of headroom.

So 10/10 meaning I'm good to go? I can stop worrying?

Aweomse! Thank you all so much!

That's a top notch PSU with plenty of power for that setup, it will suit you well.
