 Ford has only just started shipping out the F-150 Lightning to its dealer network, but has been sold out of its 2022 model year for several months. If you weren’t able to get your name on the list, it looks like you will have another chance later this summer. According to an internal update for the Ford Fleet Distribution Network Bulletin shared on the Lightning Owners Forum, Ford is planning to start 2023 model year production on October 10, 2022. Another important date provided in the bulletin indicates production scheduling will begin a few months earlier on August 4. Unfortunately the exact date for when the orders books will reopen is still marked as “TBD”, but with the two dates above it would make sense for Ford to start taking orders some time in July, if not sooner. Yesterday Ford CEO Jim Farley shared a video showing some of the first F-150 Lightning trucks being loaded onto transport carriers at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan. They should be arriving at dealers very soon, some of whom are excited at the prospect of being able to apply market adjustments that add more than 50% to the base price of the vehicle. Hmm this says no mechanical change but range increased by 10 miles on the SR. Anybody else think this is some sort of software update to reduce the buffer? Potentially coming to the 22 trucks as well? If you take the efficiency of how a extended range gets 320, then the standard range should
got 240. Was never sure how that standard range ended up with just 230.

How the heck do they remove AM radio only? I can’t imagine there was a chip being avoided that removes a constraint. First NameErich

How the heck do they remove AM radio only? I can’t imagine there was a chip being avoided that removes a constraint. Unfortunately, I do not think so. I noticed that when I removed my antenna for the car wash that I did not have good FM reception until the antenna was reinstalled.

The antenna delete is responsible for the 10 mile range increase in the SR . (actually, it's from adding heated seats)

When can I order a 2023 lightning?How will I know if I will get to place a 2023 MY order? Beginning in August 2022, we began distributing invitations. We will continue to send out waves of invitations to 2023 MY. If you are selected, you will receive an invite from Ford.
Can I reserve a 2023 Ford Lightning?Ford has closed the order books for the 2022 F-150 Lightning since the entire production capacity has already been allocated. This means no new reservation holders would be able to convert their reservations into orders. That is until the order process resumes with the 2023 model of the electric truck.
When should I expect my Ford Lightning delivery?If you have received your VIN already, your Lightning XLT is likely to meet the estimated delivery window of July-September 2022. If you haven't received your VIN already, you're likely to be invited to order a 2023 Lightning XLT instead (Ford calls this “extending your reservation”).
What is the waiting list for Ford Lightning?Ford currently has about 200,000 reservations in the books. With the doubled production capacity, Ford will be making about 150,000 per year. Do the math, and that means most F-150 Lightning buyers will have to wait until 2024.
