Follow these steps to reinstall USB drivers.

  1. Click the Start button and then click Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel window, click Hardware and Sound.
  3. In the Hardware and Sound window, under Devices and Printers, click Device Manager.
  4. Double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers to expand the selection.
  5. Under the Universal Serial Bus controllers listing, click to select the appropriate USB listing.
  6. On the menu bar, click Action.
  7. On the Action menu, click Uninstall.
  8. In the Confirm Device Uninstall window, click the OK button.
  9. Restart the computer.

NOTES:

  • The operating system will find the device and automatically reinstall the drivers.
  • If prompted for the driver installation disk, in the Add New Hardware window, type C:\Windows\inf.
  • It may be necessary to configure the operating system to show all files before trying to access the C:\Windows\inf file.
  • If the USB drivers fail to install, you can roll back to the previously installed driver .

Microsoft provides the following set of drivers:

  • For USB host controllers and hubs. For more information, see USB host-side drivers in Windows. You can develop a custom host controller driver that communicates with the USB host controller extension (UCX) driver. For more information, see Developing Windows drivers for USB host controllers.

  • For handling common function logic for USB devices. For more information, see USB device-side drivers in Windows.

Follow the steps below to manually install the USB driver using the Windows 7 Device Manager.

1. Right click on [My Computer] and select [Open]. Click [System properties], and open the [Device Manager].

2. Connect the data logger or data collector to your PC with a USB cable. If the PC does not recognize the recently connected device, an [Unknown device] message will appear.

If the message still does not appear, it is possible that something is wrong with the USB terminal on the PC or on the device, or a broken wire in the USB cable.
