Is HADA LABO premium a toner or moisturizer?

Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2022

Honestly I don't know why my skin is somehow okay with this product when I've tried multiple brands of pure hyaluronic acid in the past that have caused me problems... but this stuff is INCREDIBLE. Apply to damp skin after toner, rub, pat, whatever you want.. then follow with moisturizer.. a little goes a long way and this step added into my routine has made a huge difference in moisture retention without causing breakouts.

Further details below...

Hi hopeful skin-thusiast! I have a long history of skin problems and sensitivity. Previously used Accutane, proactiv, curology, Misc. Prescriptions like topical antibiotics, retinoids, peroxides, cetaphil, cerave, clean and clear, manuka honey, apple cider vinegar, every freaking possible glimmer of hope that's been given to me by the internet, professionals, and anyone who offered advice, diet changes, more water, clean skincare like Drunk Elephant, Youth to the people, Aveda, the list goes on... I even tried to treat my skin as though I maybe had fungal acne. Nope. Things like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide are just pure evil to my skin. I tried being super gentle with Dr. Bronners, cerave foaming cleanser, oil cleansing, etc... nothing helped. I tried doing nothing and just washing my face when i showered... ALSO NOPE. I have allergies so i also have to avoid things like apricot oil and olive oil... I now have a 7 step process that has returned my skin to near perfection. 1. Soap and Glory 3 in 1 Facial Cleanser (AM&PM) 2. Physical Exfoliation (PM) 3. Paula's Choice Balancing Toner (AM&PM) 4. Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion (the clear one in the gold bottle) (AM&PM) 5. Cetaphil Eczema Pro (AM&PM) 6. Retin-A Micro Gel (no more than every other night) 7. SPF (Still searching for the holy grail SPF for when i go outdoors but havent found one that doesnt break me out yet) Highly recommend French or Korean skincare lines for this last one. Hope this helps someone! Good luck!

Is HADA LABO premium a toner or moisturizer?

One thing you have to know about Hada Labo's famous Hydrating Lotion is it's a skin care powerhouse: it's a toner, serum, and moisturizer in one, a perfect lazy girl skin care and for those who are very busy and wouldn't bother with a usual skin care routine.

But thing is, a lot are still confused on which lotion to get! Now let me help you with this quick guide on how to find the best Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion for your skin type.

For starters, Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion is a clear emulsion that is meant to be used after toner and before serum/moisturizer; it's meant to bring back the skin to its state where it's more receptive to skin care products. But a lot have realized, the Hydrating Lotion is good enough on its own, especially during days when you're so busy; I've had this realization too after using the product for years now.

Currently, there are three variants to choose from: Hydrating Lotion original, Hydrating Lotion light, and Hydrating Lotion Premium Brightening. How do you know which one is for you? Check the diagrams below:

If you have oily/normal skin, specifically oily skin, you may find the original lotion a bit heavy and thick, and hard to buff in. So my suggestion for you is Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion Light because its consistency is made lighter; great for summer days too!

If you have dry/normal skin, specifically dry skin, your skin will love Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion Original; it's thicker and dry skin types will soak up the delicious, concentrated moisture that this will provide. I have oily-normal skin can use this with zero problems and irritation!

Lastly, if you have blemished, pigmented skin, you will love Hada Labo Premium Brightening Hydrating Lotion. This has Tranexamic Acid that effectively and gently lightens dark spots and gives skin a brighter, more even look. I've been using this a lot to counteract the effects of sun darkening on my skin because I've been out a lot lately.

And there you go! Now you know which Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion to buy.
