While it’s the first time since 2015 that Honda has offered a hybrid Civic in Australia, the 11th-generation range is considerably more pared-back than its predecessor.

The sedan body style is no longer available locally, while the range opens above where most mainstream rivals like the Kia Cerato and Toyota Corolla top out. Gone are any sub-$40,000 variants, which represented the bulk of the 10th-generation range.

All variants are now sourced from Japan, and Honda is positioning the Civic as a lower-volume, more premium model.

Will there be a 2023 Civic?

The 2023 Honda Civic starts at $24,650. This is a higher starting price than most compact cars, but that's because the entry-level Civic is better-equipped than most other base models. Honda dropped the Civic LX from the lineup for 2023, leaving the more popular, more recommendable Sport as the entry model.

Is the 2023 Civic Type R AWD?

The Type R's rev-matching six-speed manual transmission is back and improved, says Honda. The 2023 hot hatch remains front drive, too. In fact, Honda set the production-car FWD track record at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan in April 2022.

Is the 2023 Honda Civic type R automatic?

As mentioned, the 2023 Civic Type R offers 315 horsepower, and backs that up with 310 poun-feet of torque out of a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. That's paired with a crisp 6-speed manual gearbox with a lightweight flywheel, limited slip differential, and automatic rev-matching on downshifts.

How much hp will the 2022 Civic have?

Base models come standard with a 158-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder while the upgrade engine continues to be a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that now makes 180 horsepower.
