Minehut is one of the few services that allows you to host a Minecraft server for free. Minehut servers only work for Minecraft: Java Edition.    Go to https://minehut.com/ in your computer's web browser.[1] Minehut is one of many Minecraft server hosting services. It's easy to use and one of the few services that allow you to host Minecraft servers for free. Minehut allows you to host 2 Minecraft servers with up to 10 players for free. You can purchase credits if you want to allow more than 10 players or make more than 2 servers.

   • Alternatively, you can host a Minecraft server for free using your own computer. You can do this for all versions of Minecraft. Be aware that the setup process is pretty complicated and it does use a lot of RAM and internet bandwidth in addition to the resources needed to play the game and run your computer's operating system.
   • Minehut servers only work for Minecraft: Java Edition. If you want to create a server for Minecraft: Windows 10/mobile/game consoles, you can do so using Realms or Aternos or you can host your own Minecraft server on your computer.    Enter an email address. Type in a working email address on the line that says "Enter your email" text box. It's the first line at the top of the page.[3]

   Enter your birthdate. To enter your birthdate, click the second line on the page. Click the year you were born in the drop-down menu. Then click your birth month and click the day you were born in the pop-up calendar.

   • Type the 8-digit code into the "Verify" text box on the Minehut page.

   Create a password. In the "Choose a password" text box, type in your preferred password. Then type your password again exactly like you did in the first line to confirm your password.[5]

   Enter a server name. In the text field that's in the middle of the page, type in a simple name for your server's domain.[6]

   • Your server name must not exceed 10 characters.
   • Your server name cannot contain special characters, nor can it contain spaces.

   Click Create. It's the blue button in the lower-right corner. This creates your server and takes you to your Dashboard.[7]

   Click Activate. It's the blue button to the right of your server status on the Dashboard. It may take a minute for your server to a high performance DDoS protected server.[8]

   • If your server gets disconnected at any time while settings up your server or the settings, click Activate to reconnect.

   • Max Players — Click the radio button next to the maximum number of players you want to allow on your server and click Save. You will need to purchase credits if you want to allow more than 10 players.
   • Level Type — To change the level type, click the radio button next to "Default", "Flat", Amplified", "Large Biomes", or "Customized." Then click Save.
   • Level Name — To name your world, type a name for your world in the space provided and click Save.
   • Generator Settings — Enter any level generator presets you have in the space provided and click Save. The level type must be set to "Flat" for flat presets and "customized" for all other presets.
   • Gamemode — To select a game mode, click the radio button next to "Survival", "Creative", "Adventure", or "Spectator" and click Save.
   • Force Gamemode — To force the selected game mode for your server, click the toggle switch below "Force Gamemode" and click Save.
   • PVP — To toggle PVP (Player vs Player) on or off, click the toggle switch below "PVP" and click Save.
   • Monster Spawning — Click the toggle switch below "Monster Spawning" to turn monster spawning on and off. Then click Save.
   • Animal Spawning — Click the toggle switch below "Animal Spawning" to turn animal spawning on and off. Then click Save.
   • Flight — Click the toggle switch below "Flight" to allow or disallow players to fly on your server. Then click Save.
   • Difficulty — To change the difficulty on your server, click the radio button next to "Peaceful", "Easy", "Normal", or "Hard" below "Difficulty". Then click Save.
   • Hardcore — Click the toggle switch below "Hardcore" to enable or disable hardcore on your server. Then click Save.
   • Command Blocks — Click the toggle switch below Command Blocks to allow or disallow command blocks on your server. Then click Save.
   • Announce Player Achievements — Click the toggle switch below "Announce Player Achievements" to enable or disable achievement announcements for other players on your server. Then click Save.
   • Nether World — Click the toggle switch below "Nether World" to enable or disable the nether on your server. Then click Save.
   • Structures — Click the toggle switch below "Structures" to allow or disallow the generation of random structures on your server. Then click Save.
   • Resource Pack — If you have the URL for a resource pack, enter the URL in the line provided and click Save.
   • Resource Pack Hash — To add a resource pack hash, enter the SHA-1 Hash in the line provided and click Save.
   • View Distance — To increase or decrease the view distance on your server, click and drag the slider bar below "View Distance". Then click Save.
   • Spawn Protection — To increase or decrease the radius of spawn protection on your server, enter a number greater to or equal to 0 in the line provided. Then click Save. The default is 16.

   Add a plugin to your server. If you want to add a plugin to your server, use the following steps:

   • Click the Plugins tab in the top-right corner.
   • Scroll down and browse plugins or enter the name of a plugin in the search bar.
   • Click the name of a plugin.
   • Click Install Plugin.

   Manage your server files (Advanced users only). If you want to modify your server files, use the following steps to modify your files:

   • Click the File Manager tab in the top-right corner.
   • Click a file in the list to modify it. Click Save to save the file.
   • Click the icon that resembles a cloud to upload a file from your computer.
   • Click the icon that resembles a sheet of paper to create a new file.

   Change your world settings. To change your world settings, click the World tab in the upper-right corner and use the following options to change your world settings:

   • Save World — Click Save World to immediately save your world to your server.
   • Reset World — Click Reset World to delete and reset the world on your server.
   • World Seed — To change the world's seed, enter the seed number in the line below "World Seed" and click Update.
   • Upload World — To upload a world to your server, save the world save file in a zip file. Click the paperclip icon below "Upload World" and select the zip file containing your world save and click Open. Then click Upload.

   Access "Danger Zone" settings. Danger zone settings contain a few emergency measures you can take. To access the Danger Zone settings, click the Danger Zone tab in the upper-right corner. Then do one of the following:

   • Force Hibernate Server — To force your server to go into hibernation, click the red button that says Force Hibernate below "Force Hibernate Server".
   • Reset Server — To reset your server, click the red button that says Reset Server below "Reset Server.
   • Repair Files — To repair broken files that are keeping the server from running properly, click the red button that says Repair Files below "Repair Files".

   Leave your server dashboard open. This will allow you to adjust your server quickly by minimizing the Minecraft window and maximizing your browser window.
