Most research shows that probiotics should be taken during and also 1-2 weeks post antibiotic therapy to assist in the restoration of the intestinal microflora and minimize the opportunity for antibiotic-related side effects. Probiotics may assist in maintaining healthy digestive flora following the use of antibiotics. We recommend that you take probiotics at least two hours before or after your antibiotic, to minimise the amount of good bacteria that may be killed by the antibiotics.

Is probiotic powder good for kids?

Though it is unclear if probiotics benefit children, it's clear they typically won't cause harm in healthy children. However, Dr. Sanghavi recommends parents wait until a child is over 1 year of age before giving probiotics. "Currently, there just isn't enough safety data on probiotics for infants," she says.

Can kids take adult probiotics?

A good rule of thumb for children's dosing is to use one quarter the recommended adult dosage for children up to 6 years of age, half the adult dosage for children 6 to 12 years of age, and a full adult dosage for teens. It is important to recognize that probiotics are not as tightly regulated as medications.

Can a 13 year old take probiotics?

Probiotics are generally considered safe and well tolerated for children when used as directed ( 8 ). However, probiotics may not be suitable for all children, including premature infants and children who are immunocompromised or critically ill (9).

What probiotics are good for ADHD kids?

According to recent investigations, several lactobacillus strains, including L. Paracasei 37, L. Planetarium 128, L. reuteri DSM 17938, and Bifidobacterium longum, have been effective in treating children's neurodevelopmental disorders such as ASD and ADHD.
